One day, a young lady showed up on the steps of our church for help. She said, “I have heard that you deliver people from demons here. Will you help me? I want to be delivered.” I responded with, “Yes, we do deliver people here because Jesus told us to in Matthew 10:8. And yes, I believe we can help you.”
Her first proclamation was good, but there was a detachment between her heart and her mouth that mystified me. Since something did not set right with the team that was ministering to her, we proceeded with an interview. Through a number of questions and the revelation of spiritual discernment, the real motive behind her desire to be delivered surfaced. She was a witch, and wanted us to cast the devils out so she could get more demons. I know it sounds insane. Most people have not experienced the torment of demons. Jesus gave this revelation about demonic activity.
“When an evil spirit goes out of a person, it travels over dry country looking for a place to rest. If it can’t find one, it says to itself, ‘I will go back to my house.’ So it goes back and finds the house empty, clean, and all fixed up. Then it goes out and brings along seven other spirits even worse than itself, and they come and live there. So when it is all over, that person is in worse shape than at the beginning. This is what will happen to the evil people of this day.” (Matthew 12:43-45 GNB)
I have only had a few people who wanted to keep their demons, but this lady wanted more. IF she had gotten her way, at least seven more wicked demons would have come to her and the end of her life would have been worse.
We tried to convince the young lady by telling her what her future would look like. She would not be turned, and we released her without deliverance. But if you want to be delivered the authority of God is available for freedom.
Believe and receive all that Jesus has done for you, take the authority he has given you, and command the demon spirits to go in Jesus’ name. The word of God is the law in the physical and the spiritual realms, and you must deny and defy his law to be tormented by demons.
“And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:30-31)
Legally, demons cannot access you at their whim. There are laws that God has set in place to protect you. But just like Adam, if you want to disobey God, the demons will gain access to you, and it will not end well. The strategy of unholy and unclean spirits is to get you to believe a lie, and then motivate you to act in agreement with that lie. The demonic hordes work with lies, deceit, pride, and the curse of Adam’s nature to get you to agree with them. Therefore, when demons show up in your life, as they do in everyone’s life, there is a cause.
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
If a demon is in your life, you made a choice somewhere and somehow to agree with him. It may have been at a point of deep hurt, intense rejection, forceful trauma, extreme fear, severe abuse, the willful act of immoral sin, or a repeated act of rebellion against authority. All of us have made similar decisions, and therefore, most of these demons have been with us for a while.
